Did you know that some of the most exciting research in Texas hold'em is happening here in Edmonton?
DeepStack is an expert-level artificial intelligence program capable of beating professional poker players at heads-up no-limit Texas hold'em. If you want to learn about how this program came to be, come and listen to Dr. Michael Bowling. Dr. Bowling is the leading researcher of DeepStack and will share as much as he can about the logic behind DeepStack.

After Dr. Bowling's talk, attendees will be given the chance to play texas hold'em for the title of "Human Champion". We will be playing texas hold'em for about two hours and the person who beats the rest of their table in the least amount of time or has the most amount of chips at the end will be crowned "Human Champion".

EDIT: Please note that the Texas hold'em tournament is only with play money. I.e. there is no actual money value assigned to the chips you will receive. We are solely playing for the title of "Human Champion".

Board games will also be available if you do not want to play Texas hold'em.
Finger food will be served (vegetarian and gluten free options available).
A bartender will be available if you are interested in purchasing drinks.

7:00 - Dr. Bowling's talk on DeepStack
8:00 - Play texas hold'em!
10:00 - Count chips to declare a human champion
Human champion will play DeepStack
